Dr. Garvin is a board-certified and fellowship-trained vascular surgeon. His clinical and research interests include carotid artery disease, aortic aneurysmal disease and peripheral artery disease. He has extensive experience with carotid stenting, carotid surgery, aortic stenting and aortic surgery, and stenting and surgery of arteries in the lower extremities. He also provides vascular access for dialysis patients. Dr. Garvin earned his medical degree from Temple University. He completed his residency at Western Pennsylvania Hospital, and a fellowship in vascular surgery at the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. However, when I completed my rotation in vascular surgery, I knew this was the path for me.”|Originally from rural southwest Arkansas, he came to Geisinger after matching into a vascular surgery fellowship. “I was so impressed with the department of vascular surgery and the beauty of central Pennsylvania,” he says. “When the opportunity to work at Geisinger Medical Center arose, I accepted.”|He adds, “I love my team here at Geisinger. We have a dynamic, talented, motivated group of vascular surgeons, vascular surgical fellows and residents, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, vascular lab technologists, nursing staff and medical students. We all love treating our patients and seeing them achieve better health.”|In his spare time, he enjoys golf, cycling and lifting weights.
